The main purpose of GVC Foundation US is the coordination of GVC's global corporate social responsibility initiatives with a specific approach to American issues, as well as distribution of donations to non-profit organizations with comparable causes.

HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL

Investment in research is fundamental to supporting GVC's commitment to better understanding and reducing problematic gambling behavior. With this in mind, one of the group's biggest research projects to-date is based in the United States. GVC Foundation US is investing $5 million over the next five years in a partnership with the Harvard Medical School Faculty at the Division on Addiction. GVC will provide Harvard with access to anonymized player data across a range of its brands, including both sports betting and gaming products.

The research is broad ranging, focusing on a number of areas including, but not limited to:

  • Patterns of normal internet gambling behavior
  • Behavioral markers of gambling problems amongst online players

SETON HALL LAW

The first U.S. gaming, integrity and compliance educational program in collaboration with Seton Hall Law School. The first project of the collaboration was a three-day Bootcamp in March 2020 that seeks to promote compliance and integrity in the gaming industry through education and understanding of relevant laws, regulations and requirements for compliance. Speakers included leading gaming industry compliance officers and professionals, legal counsels, regulators, and academics.

NATIONAL COUNCIL
ON PROBLEM GAMBLING

GVC Foundation US also has established a partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling, the world’s longest established NGO dedicated to addressing issues surrounding problem gambling. and will develop responsible gambling educational programs for active military service personnel and veterans. This program will start in 2020.

UNLV - International Gaming Institute

Legislators and regulators face many unanswered questions about the impacts of legalizing online gambling and sports wagering. We've funded a study produced by UNLV - International Gaming Institute to identify the most important questions that policymakers and stakeholders ask when looking to understand online gambling and sports wagering; provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based information to inform these conversations; and investigate the gambling market's structure to propose a responsible, sustainable way forward.
